    2. Reminders to recycle during the event over the P.A. system.
    3. Special shirts and bags for cleaning crew (advertising recycling).
    4. Placing bike flags with a recycle logo helps the crowds to see where the recycling containers are located at extremely crowded events.
    5. Banners and signs
    6. Include information in publications, programs, ads, etc.
  4. Invite patrons to share their pictures or take your own pictures, report your success, and submit to the local papers to build recognition for your organization and its recycling program.
  5. Invite the appropriate press so they can support you and your green event.
    1. This will also help encourage others to green their events.
    2. This will get you good coverage and hopefully increase attendance.

Wrapping up clearly successful events

Celebrate your success with these four steps:

  1. Recognize your volunteers

Celebrate the accomplishments of the people who green the event.

There are many good ways including recognition dinners, etc. at the dinner, ask the volunteers to write their comments about the event and suggestions for next year on a cocktail napkin, then collect them and add to your final report.

  2. Record the recyclables

Ask the people running the event, whether your staff or volunteer community groups, to take pictures of the ClearStreams and the central collection container as it fills up with uncontaminated recyclables.

  3. Report your results

Calculate the return on the investment in man hours, (your volunteer hours represent a great savings in staff labor), reduced cost of trash disposal, value and volume of recyclables, reduced litter cost ( compared to previous years), etc. Make use of the media using the PR templates provided in the green event kit.

  4. Recruit new volunteers. Events are a great place to recruit additional volunteers.
